Christmas is one of the most widely celebrated holidays in all the world. Even many who do not consider themselves Christian will observe the various secular parts of the holy day.

While many know why Christmas is celebrated and have a familiarity with the customs, there are some facts about the December 25 holiday that might not be as widely known.

Here, in no particular order, are seven interesting facts about the Christmas observance. They include why the date was chosen, how some churches refuse to celebrate, and who made the first manger scene. (Click arrow above image)
