Adele Quits Music to 'Be in Love and Happy'
Adele may take a break from music for four or five years following her six wins at the Grammy Awards for the sake of love and a stable relationship, the singer said.
Adele's hiatus from the music world isn't a brash decision. The singer told Vogue magazine in an interview that she would take a break for a while because of her blossoming love to her new boyfriend, Simon Konecki.
"I am [leaving] for four or five years," the songstress told Vogue reporter Jonathan Van Meter. "If I am constantly working, my relationships fail."
Adele, who was raised by a single mother, seemed to feel that family, stability, and love are all very important, even though she is relatively young, at 23.
"So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record. And be in love and be happy. And then I don't know what I'll do. Get married. Have some kids. Plant a nice vegetable patch.
Adele's confidence in her abilities- and willingness to leave the music scene- could stem from her recent Grammy performance. At the highly-publicized award show, she racked up six Grammys for her album 21, tying with Beyonce for most awards won in one night by a female artist.
In addition, the soulful British singer gave a stellar rendition of her hit, "Rolling in the Deep," which won several awards that night. Adele had undergone a recent vocal cord surgery, and many wondered whether her voice would ever be the same
The soul diva proved critics wrong, belting out the lines to her famous song with unmatched clarity and poise. She received an extended standing ovation for her performance and her Grammy wins.
Now that the dust has settled, Adele plans to return to her life, which she is afraid is passing her by while she sings and tours.
"I have a tendency to think I am missing out on things," revealed the British star. "When I am busy and on tour, I feel like I'm stuck in this bubble, and all my friends are going forward with things. … So that's what wears me out. Constantly feeling paranoid about my life, that it's going to disappear and they are all going to forget me.
Adele's solution? Start her life with Simon Konecki, the 37-year-old former investment banker she's recently started dating.
"I want to set up my home. I need to lay some concrete. And I think that will really cure my paranoia of feeling like I am missing home, missing out," she told Vogue.
Adele's break from music isn't something most artists can do, however. Her deal with independent British music label XL makes her hiatus possible; instead of being forced to put out an album every few years, she is only obligated to her own artistic standards.
"I won't come out with new music until it's better than 21. … So yeah, I will need at least three years to write a record," said Adele.
