Amanda Knox Offered $1M for Her Story: 'If She's Innocent Let's Prove It'

Rhode Island producer Chad Verdi has made the latest offer for Amanda Knox’s Story – bidding $1 million.

“I’ve offered $1 million to Amanda Knox for the rights to her story,” Verdi told Dread Central.

“If she’s innocent, let’s prove it to the world,” he stated.

Anita First, Hollywood entertainment attorney, is handling the offer, which was made by Verdi Productions.

According to a press release, Verdi and Kraft reached out to Knox last week.

"We hope the offer will be accepted and that filming can begin as early as January 2013," stated Mr. Verdi, who is the President and CEO of Verdi Productions. "My attorney has contacted Theodore Simon, Ms. Knox's U.S. counsel, and we are hoping to discuss the offer with Ms. Knox as soon as possible."

Verdi’s latest film “Loosies,” about a young pickpocket, living a fast life in New York City, will be released in theaters December 2011.

"I am just getting started," stated Verdi. "I believe that people can triumph against all odds. It's what I have done my entire life.”

He added, “A story like Amanda's is exactly the type of story that needs to be told. With support, encouragement and love from one's family, anything is possible. That is what movies are made about."

Amanda Knox touched American soil for the first time in four years Tuesday, Oct. 4, following her release from an Italian prison for the death of Meredith Kercher.

An appeals court acquitted the 24-year-old Oct. 3 of murdering her British roommate, who was killed during a drug-influenced sex game that went awry. A jury of six, along with two judges, overturned Knox’s 26-year jail sentence for the 2007 murder.

Knox and her family arrived in Seattle, Wash., earlier this month on a British Airways flight.

“I’m really overwhelmed right now,” Knox tearfully told supporters upon landing. “I was looking down from the airplane, and it seemed like everything wasn’t real.”

Her voice was cracking with emotion as she said, "What's important for me to say is just thank you, to everyone who has believed in me, who has defended me, who has supported my family.”

According to Knox, the most important thing to her right now was to be with her family.

“Thank you for being there for me,” she added.
