America Is in Aberration, Says Radio Host
America is in aberration where good is considered deviant and evil is normative, said a conservative radio talk show host.
Dennis Prager, a Jew, has been outspoken about his concerns with the secularization of America. He reiterated them during a discussion last week titled "Faith and Freedom in the Public Square," with Southern Baptist pastor R. Albert Mohler and New York Times columnist Ross Douthat.
Responding to Douthat's observation that America has entered "a kind of post-culture war era" in politics and that the country is secularizing, Prager stated, "This country is changing. This country is in aberration."

The consequences of secularism?
Prager listed: no intrinsic meaning to life and no objective morality.
"Secularism may be great for government but it's terrible for people because there is no intrinsic meaning to life if there is no god. That's an intellectually honest understanding," he explained.
And rather than asking what is right, Prager lamented that young people today ask themselves "how do I feel about it?"
"We live in the age of feelings. There was an age of reason, there was a renaissance. This is the age of feelings. 'How do you feel about it?' It is everything."
Using abortion as an example, Prager made the secular argument that there is no intrinsic worth to the human fetus; its worth is entirely dictated by the feelings of the mother.
That argument, the radio host said, is "an unbelievable statement of narcissism, which is what happens when there is no transcendent morality ... Mother has been named god in so far as the worth of what she's carrying. It's mind-boggling that people hold that as a moral position."
Prager continued his response to Douthat by calling leftism the most dynamic religion of the last 100 years.
"You don't need a liberal religion," he said. "It exists. Leftism is a religion. It even has a Bible - the editorial page of your newspaper (The New York Times)."
While conservatives follow the belief that people are not basically good, leftists hold to the "dangerous" belief that people are basically good, Prager noted.
"They have everything that religion gives except for the transcendent. The truth is, they believe that their values are transcendent," he stated.
"They believe in preventing global warming as much as I believe that God gave Moses the Ten Commandments at Sinai."
Leftists, Prager argued, are very fulfilled in their leftism. "It is life enhancing. That's why they're not arguable with because they're true believers."
