Black Friday 2011: Deals to Start Thanksgiving Day

Consumers looking to get a jump on Black Friday sales can start shopping on Thanksgiving at certain stores.

A number of retailers are offering sales on Thanksgiving Day in-store and online this year. Walmart, Kmart, Toys R Us, and more will open their doors on Thanksgiving for savings-hungry shoppers.

Toys R Us, who will open at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving, will give away a free 64-pack of Crayola crayons with coloring books with any purchase while supplies last. This is in addition to storewide savings on hundreds of items.

Sears will be open from 7 a.m. to noon. In addition to sales on a myriad of other items, the retailer will sell Covington sweaters originally priced at $42 for less than ten bucks.

Walmart, as predicted, will make Thanksgiving Day shopping worth consumers' while.

In-store patrons who buy any smart-phone by BlackBerry, HTC, Samsung, LG or Motorola will receive a $100 dollar gift card to the store. Thanksgiving hours vary amongst individual retailers.

Walmart.com, which is busiest on Thanksgiving, will offer 150 deals only online on the holiday.

Walmart will also match the prices on any ad brought into the store on Thanksgiving.

Staples will offer close to $200 off select laptops online. The office supply retailer has never participated in Thanksgiving Day sales until this year.

CouponSnapShot.com, which advertises itself as the all-inclusive one stop for savings from around the web, will offer coupons on Thanksgiving from retailers like those mentioned above as well as hundreds others including Macy's, Home Depot, Kohl's and Amazon.

Many online travel agencies are offering drastically reduced rates on holiday travel. Known as one of the most hectic travel weekends in the U.S., travel and booking agencies are trying to capitalize by offering savings on packages in numerous cities.

NewYorkGuest.com is offering a 5-day package, marketed to families, at $669 per person. Tickets to holiday shows, reservations at restaurants and a midtown hotel and optional perks are included in the package.

For those looking to head westward, San Diego's Hotel Del Coronado offers a $339 holiday escape, which includes ocean-front dining and ski lessons.

The Air Travel Association recommends travelers book flights for Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday of Thanksgiving week. Otherwise, airports could get messy. The Association also recommends travelers redeem any mileage-related bonuses accrued with an airline.
