Chick-fil-A Celebrates With Free Meal Give-Away
Chick-fil-A held its annual Cow Appreciation Day Friday and to celebrate gave away free meals.
To get a free meal people had to don a cow costume, and Chick-fil-A promised to distribute meals free of charge in honor of the grass loving animal.
The second largest quick-serving chicken restaurant in America, Chick-fil-A has over 1500 restaurants in 39 states mostly in southern California and the Midwest. They are famous for their fresh, high quality chicken, as well as their real lemonade.

The company was started by S. Truett Cathy, a Christian from Atlanta, Georgia. “We Didn’t Invent Chicken, Just the Chicken Sandwich”, and “EAT MORE CHIKIN” are famous slogans of Chick-fil-A, named to mimic the word “fillet”.
Cathy has taught Sunday school at his community church for over 51 years and has allowed his faith to shape his business. The company’s official statement of corporate purpose states that business exists “To glorify God and being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us,” and also includes the statement “To have a positive influence on all who come into Chick-fil-A.”
Annually, Chick-fil-A brings in $3.5 billion in sales. This impressive total could be even higher, but Chick-fil-A’s are closed every Sunday, as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Privately held and family owned, Chick-fil-A is set apart from all other fast food companies. This is because of the ideals of Truett, who was quoted saying, “I was not so committed to financial success that I was willing to abandon my principles and priorities.” Regarding his decision to close on Sunday, he said, “It is our way of honoring God and of directing our attention to things that mattered more than our business.”
The chain has locations in Washington, D.C., as well as in New York City.
