Manipulated by predators, sold for sex: 12 survivors of online sexual exploitation denied justice
6. Doe v. WebGroup Czech Republic (C.D. Cal. July 24, 2024)
Jane Doe's trafficker not only assaulted her multiple times when she was a teenager, but he also forced the girl to record herself performing sexually explicit acts, according to NCOSE. The girl's trafficker then uploaded these videos to pornographic websites, with one of the videos reaching over 160,000 views.
Despite notifying the websites of the illegal child sex abuse material on their platforms, Jane Doe says that the sites made no effort to remove the content. The websites finally removed the material after Jane Doe hired an attorney.
After a lower court ruled against Doe, a federal appeals court ruled last January that WebGroup Czech Republic, the parent company of XVideos.com, could be sued for distributing child sexual content.
"We are grateful that the court ruled for this courageous plaintiff, as it moves her one more step closer to justice," NCOSE attorney Dani Pinter said in a January statement to Fox News.
