'Duck Dynasty' Star Sadie Robertson Avoids Provocative 'DWTS' Costumes With Dad Willie's Approvals
Sadie Robertson of "Duck Dynasty" is staying in line with her Christian beliefs while on "Dancing with the Stars" by having her famous dad Willie approve her costumes for the dance floor.
Even without any dancing experience, the 17-year-old "Duck Dynasty" star has been wowing both "DWTS" judges and fans all season long. However, Robertson relies on her famous family, especially her father Willie Robertson, to ensure that her best interests are protected in the ballroom.
Since the beginning of season 19, the conservative views of the famous Robertson family of "Duck Dynasty" have guided the Sadie's "DWTS" costumes, from the yellow dress from week one to the most recent feathered frock of last week. Even if Willie Robertson is across the country, he video chats with his daughter before he grants his approval. In one video on ABC, Willie shoots down several of Sadie's outfit ideas.
"That is not a dress, that is a dish towel," he says of one costume.
Consequent to her family's feedback, Sadie has garnered hundreds of positive reviews for her "DWTS" costumes.
"Sadie is just pure class, the Kardashians could only pray one day to be all class like Sadie. You go Sadie," one Twitter user posted.
Another Twitter user added, "She's a cute kid, you can't help but love a strong, religious. Too few of them exist."
Furthermore, Ballas agrees with the Robertson family in keeping the clothing appropriate for Sadie.
"I like to keep things a little bit more about the dancing," the pro dancer told The Hollywood Reporter recently. "Make it sassy, make it fun, make it cute and sexy at times, but with [Sadie] it's going to be very appropriate and it's always going to be comfortable. That's my bottom-line rule."
This week, Robertson will dance the Charleston with her new partner for this week, Derek Hough.
"I love the fringe," the teen competitor hinted of her costume for Monday, according to E! News. "It's going to be so much fun to dance in. The wardrobe is amazing! They somehow outdo themselves every week!"
Ahead of making her "DWTS" debut, Robertson said she received advice on costumes from former "DWTS" contestant Candace Cameron Bure, who is also a strong Christian.
"She said to have fun and be yourself," Robertson told USA Today. "I don't think it's going to come across as sexy. I'm going to go more for the cute look. I'm going to make it as classy as we can."
"DWTS" airs on ABC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
