Pastor Greg Laurie of the California-based Harvest Christian Fellowship has said it's time for all Americans to join in prayer for President-elect Donald Trump, regardless of how they voted, and he is praying for the country to turn back to God.

"America has spoken. Let's all pray now for our President-elect, Donald Trump. Regardless of how you voted, it's time to set that aside and pray for wisdom for our new president as he puts his cabinet together and sets the course for the future of what I have always believed is the greatest country on Earth — the United States of America," Laurie wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday, the day after Trump defeated Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the race to the White House.

The pastor emphasized that America's strength has always come from its spiritual roots.

"I pray that America turns back to God. He has never turned His back on us. Scripture reminds us that, 'The Most High rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He will' (Daniel 4:17)," he added.

Prominent evangelicals, such as Johnnie Moore, former senior vice president at Liberty University and advisor to The Christian Post, said in an interview with this publication that it was conservative Christians who came out to propel Trump to victory, as they voted based on their concern for the future of religious liberty and the protection of the unborn in the country.

Other famous evangelicals, such as the Rev. Franklin Graham, have also said that now that the elections are over, it's time for Americans to unite.

"This election has been long, it's been tough, and it's been divisive. It's time to put that behind us. Now is the time to come together in unity and work together. Our nation has so many problems that need fixing. Even more important are the spiritual needs of our country," Graham wrote in his own message.

"Whether we are rich or poor, without Jesus Christ we are the most desperately in need, the poorest of the poor. We cannot ignore His hand and His supreme authority," he added.

Back in August, Laurie said the combination of radical terrorist attacks around the world and the false preachings of some Mainline Protestant denominations could be leading humankind to its "last hours" until Jesus Christ returns.

"The Bible also tells us, for instance, that there is going to be a cashless society. The Bible tells us that there is going to be global instability and excessive violence in the End Times," Laurie told CP in an interview back in August.

"As we look around right now at the way the world is changing, we look at the change economically, we look at the emergence of radical terrorist groups like [the Islamic State] that are incomprehensibly barbaric in the things that they do to people."
