Judge Judy's Son, District Attorney, Accused of Covering Up for Undocumented Worker Charged With Rape

Just two weeks ago Judge Judith Sheindlin, better known as Judge Judy, was in the hot seat after claims emerged that she had cheated some people out of a fair deal. Now her son, Putnam County district attorney Adam Levy, is in trouble after claims emerged that he knew his former personal live-in trainer was an undocumented immigrant accused of raping a 12-year-old girl.

Alexandru Hossu, 35, the former personal trainer, was charged with two counts of first-degree rape last week. According to The Journal News, Hossu allegedly "forcibly and violently" raped a 12-year-old girl twice in 2010; the victim reportedly did not immediately speak about the rape because she was afraid.

She eventually told a school counselor, who then informed police and the girl's relatives.

"I was told not to say anything about it," the girl said on Friday night, according to the unnamed relative.

Now Levy has been accused of covering up for Hossu and keeping him in the country even though his visa expired nearly 10 years ago.

I "had absolutely no idea whatsoever of Hossu's immigration status," Levy previously stated. According to him, Hossu had a valid driver's license and social security number. Levy has not spoken publicly about the case since it is an on-going investigation, but it could cost him his job.

"In my view, Mr. Levy's comments and actions would seem to suggest that, if he could have his own way, Mr. Hossu would never have been brought to justice for his crime and Mr. Levy's relationship with him would have never been brought to the light of public scrutiny," Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith, said in a statement.

"I don't care if this takes down the D.A.," the victim's relative said. "It's heartbreaking that (the girl) carried this all by herself and didn't tell us. If I had known it earlier, I would have that bald-headed freak (Hossu) pulled into court long ago."

Hossu is currently being held in Putnam County jail on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

Sheindlin, whose TV series is among one of the most popular, has not commented on the case.
