Justin Bieber Accused Of Racism After Creating Monkey Graffiti
Justin Bieber seems to have found a new hobby with his graffiti spray painting, but the Canadian crooner's recent monkey in jewelry creation has sparked some controversy with some even claiming the image he created is racist.
Bieber spray painted a black monkey in Brazil with rings in his ears, nose, lip and a necklace.
"This is my escape," he captioned the photograph featured on his Instagram page.
While the photograph drew a plethora of comments, some black individuals questioned, "Does he think we're all monkeys?"
Another individual took to Twitter to angrily comment about the photograph stating, "Yes it is racist. I posted it on my FB page. Disgusting is the word. So is he."
While Bieber's camp has yet to comment on the matter, his street art has gotten him in trouble with the law in Brazil. Bieber has allegedly been charged with a misdemeanor crime after illegally spray painting a wall in Rio De Ginero, Brazil.
Although painting buildings in the Brazilian city could be punishable by up to a year in jail, Bieber has already left the country with sources close to the singer telling TMZ that he was not aware of his actions being a crime.
The news comes after Bieber attempted to support troubled singer Chris Brown in the form of graffiti art, calling for the latter's freedom. During the South America part of his "Believe" tour last week Bieber spray painted an arrow on a street wall in Columbia with the words "Free Breezy" written on the inside.
Brown, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter, was taken to a rehabilitation center one day after being released from a Washington D.C. jail where he spent 36 hours. The singer was arrested after he was accused of breaking the nose of Parker Isaac Adams, 20, who allegedly attempted to sneak into a photograph that Brown was taking with two women, according to E! News reports.
Last September, Bieber let it be known that he and Brown collaborated on the former's skateboard ramp called a "half pipe." Brown is a graffiti artist as well as a singer, and spray painted some characters on Bieber's half pipe which the latter showcased on Instagram.
"Breezy spray painted my half pipe," Bieber captioned the Instagram photograph. "He's super dope."
