Melissa Rycroft Hospitalized After 'DWTS' Injury: Will All-Star Compete Tonight?
Melissa Rycroft was injured during rehearsals for "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars," her representative has revealed. The reality-TV star was rushed to the hospital but has since been released.
"Melissa was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she is currently being examined," Rycroft's rep told People yesterday. "She was accompanied to the hospital by her husband, Tye Strickland, and her dance partner, Tony Dovolani. Everyone is taking all necessary precautions at this time."
Thankfully Rycroft was not kept in the hospital too long, but may have to take it easy for a bit after injuring her head and neck. There's been no word as to whether she has been cleared to compete on tonight's show.
Friends have taken to Twitter and Facebook to wish Rycroft a speedy recovery and plenty of support.
"I really hope Melissa Rycroft is ok. She was taken to the hospital with a head/neck injury. Saying a prayer for her tonight," tweeted Team Emmitt Smith.
"Really concerned about Melissa Rycroft….we don't know if we are dancing tomorrow!!! Please keep us in your prayers #trouper" added Tony Dovolani.
As the all-star season gets more competitive, the likelihood of injuries increases. Just last week Karina Smirnoff fell while performing a hip-hop routine with partner Apolo Anton Ohno. She wasn't seriously injured and was able to finish the routine before breaking down on-stage.
"I'm sorry, I feel like I messed up the whole routine," she told the judges. "We worked so hard this week… please, please, please," Smirnoff begged. Instead, it was Bristol Palin who was sent home after failing to earn the audience's vote.
This week the remaining teams will perform both an individual routine and a team freestyle routine.
"Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars" airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, with the results show airing tomorrow night at the same time.
