Michelle Obama to Appear on 'iCarly'
First Lady Michelle Obama is set to appear on Nickelodeon’s “iCarly,” according to reports. Her episode will air on Jan. 16 and feature Obama alongside “iCarly” regulars Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Jerry Traino, and Noah Munck.
Obama will appear in order to bring awareness to the support kids can give military families. According to the Associated Press, this episode will focus on the struggle kids go through when their parents are deployed; Miranda Cosgrove’s character is the daughter of a colonel stationed abroad. Obama will offer her support to Cosgrove ‘s character and all military families.
Cosgrove has said that Obama is “a nice, pretty normal person,” who regularly interacted with the cast, including its traditional “Random Dancing” segment. “It was probably the most fun thing we did. We all just got to let loose and have a good time.”
The plot of “iCarly” focuses on the adventures of Carly Shay and friends who are responsible for a weekly Internet show.
“When ‘iCarly’ becomes an instant hit, Carly and her pals have to balance their newfound success with the problems of everyday life. With her parents overseas, Carly relies on the help of…Sam, Freddie, and Spenser.”
The show has been well received by younger audiences, winning several awards from the Nickelodeon’s Kid Choice Awards show. It is currently in its fifth season. Obama’s episode will air on Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. EST on Nickelodeon.
