Ohio Catholic School Administrator Fired for Pro-Gay Marriage Blog
A Catholic school administrator from Ohio was fired earlier this week after the Archdiocese of Cincinnati found that he was openly supporting same-sex marriage on his personal blog.
"My point was I wish I had time to care who married each other but I don't," Mike Moroski, a 34-year-old teaching veteran from Purcell Marian High School, told ABC News in an interview.
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati apparently sent a letter to teachers and parents explaining why they terminated Moroski's employment, arguing that support for same-sex marriage stands in conflict with Roman Catholic Church doctrine, which teaches that homosexuality is a sin.

According to ABC, Moroski, who is married to a woman and identifies as a Catholic, stirred up debate on his Facebook page when he posted a quote from President Barack Obama's inauguration speech supporting same-sex marriage. The U.S. president revealed last May that he had "evolved" on the issue and no longer supports upholding the traditional definition of marriage as between one man and one woman.
"I unabashedly believe that gay people SHOULD be allowed to marry. Ethically, morally and legally I believe this," Moroski wrote on Jan. 27 on his personal blog. "Gay marriage is NOT something of which to be afraid."
The archdiocese, which oversees matters relating to Purcell Marian school, were soon notified of the posting after the school's principal was made aware of Moroski's views. He was then allegedly presented with an opportunity to denounce his same-sex marriage views in order to keep his job, but refused to do so.
"They said, 'You take it down, recant your statements and agree to publicly not disparage the archdiocese,'" Moroski claimed, adding that he was also required to create an "action plan" detailing how he would "live with morality."
"I really, really believe in my conscience and the morals I've developed in my lifetime in the Catholic Church," the former school administrator explained. "I knew from the get-go I wasn't going to take [the post] down."
Cincinatti.com revealed that as part of his job, Moroski was required to sign a contract every year where he pledged to "comply with and act consistently in accordance with the stated philosophy and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church." Archdiocese spokesman Dan Andriacco explained that Moroski had executed "poor judgment" in his blog posts and had violated the teachings of the church.
As a consequence of maintaining his position, Moroski was let go from his position on Monday.
"I definitely never thought I would lose my job over something like this," Moroski continued. "I have experienced God more in the past week than my entire life. I feel like I'm on the right track."
Purcell Marian High School did not return a phone call by The Christian Post seeking for comments at the time of press.
