Porsha Stewart Divorce: Reality Star Was 'Tired' of Being 'Controlled,' Confronted Kordell?
Porsha Stewart was reportedly blindsided after her estranged husband Kordell filed for divorce recently, and new details have emerged regarding their relationship.
During season five of the hit reality TV show, Stewart repeatedly denied that Kordell, 40, was controlling in their marriage despite claims made by some of her co-stars. The 31-year-old granddaughter of civil rights leader Hosea Williams eventually grew "tired" of Kordell's ways, according to HollywoodLife.com.
"Porsha has dreams and ambition, but her man was just too damn controlling and wanted her home all the time, cooking and cleaning and doing chores," the source told HollywoodLife.
"They don't have any help at that house and its gigantic. He made her do all the work and I think she got tired of it all and confronted him," the source continued.
The estranged couple, who has no children together, was often seen arguing on the "Real Housewives" and raising a child was almost always at the root of their arguments.
Porsha, who is a former video model, wanted to become a mother and also have a career, but Kordell, who has one child from a previous relationship, often pressured her to choose one or the other.
She reportedly sought advice from some of her co-stars and some suggested that doing so may have contributed to the demise of her almost 2-year marriage to Kordell.
"She got around all those strong women on the show like NeNe [Leakes] and Phaedra [Parks] and they gave her advice on her marriage and I think she took what they told her and got on her high horse and took that to Kordell but clearly he wasn't having it," the source explained.
"Porsha is a cool girl, don't get me wrong, but she shouldn't have let these other rich girls get in her ear about her marriage. If she didn't, she'd still have a man," the source said.
In a statement Stewart revealed that she was "disappointed" with Kordell's divorce filing and that she felt "misled" by him because "[he] promised to work on the marriage with her."
Kordell is said to be done with Stewart, with critics speculating that he has no desire to work it out with his reality star wife. He is reportedly refusing to pay her spousal support in their divorce.
"[She's] an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself," Kordell reportedly told TMZ.
