Ronan Farrow Slams Dad Woody Allen for Allegedly Molesting 7-Year-Old Sister During Golden Globes
Ronan Farrow took a huge swipe at his father, actor Woody Allen, after he accepted a Lifetime Achievement award at the Golden Globes. Farrow brought up the fact that one of his siblings alleged Allen had molested her when she was just seven years old.
"Missed the Woody Allen tribute – did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after 'Annie Hall'?" Ronan tweeted.
Ronan was referring to the fact that his sister, Dylan, who now goes by a different name, alleged that Woody Allen had molested her in 1992. She told their mother, Mia Farrow, that Allen had touched her inappropriately; Mia videotaped her words but nothing ever reached a courtroom. Everyone wanted to spare Dylan from having to testify against an adult in public court, though the allegations did become very public.
"I'm scared of him, his image," Dylan told "Vanity Fair" in October. "I have never been asked to testify. If I could talk to the 7-year-old Dylan, I would tell her to be brave, to testify. There's a lot I don't remember, but what happened in the attic I remember. I remember what I was wearing and what I wasn't wearing. The things making me uncomfortable were making me think I was a bad kid, because I didn't want to do what my elder told me to do."
"I was cracking," she added. "I had to say something. I was seven. I was doing it because I was scared. I wanted it to stop."
According to Dylan, Allen tried to contact her twice by mail, but she has not been receptive to his initiation. Allen has always denied that he ever touched Dylan.
Many have praised Ronan for his words and bringing attention to the fact that Allen's past should not be overlooked for art.
"As far as I'm concerned, @RonanFarrow is standing up for all sexual abuse survivors tonight. Thank you," Courtenay Stallings tweeted.
"@RonanFarrow standing up and supporting a sexually abused sibling. That is some important [expletive]. Thank you sir. #socialworksealofapproval," added Social Jerk.
