Sarah Palin Overshadows GOP Debate?
Although Sarah Palin, 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, has kept her plans for the 2012 elections a mystery, the next stop on her constitution-themed bus tour will ensure that she is close to GOP candidates this weekend.
This week, Palin announced that her bus tour will make its way to Iowa, where Republican presidential hopefuls will participate in a debate on Thursday. While the debate will prepare GOP supporters for the straw poll on Saturday, Palin said her “One Nation” bus tour will take her to the Iowa State Fair.
In preparation for her Iowa stop, Palin sent an email to her supporters.

"The heartland is perfect territory for more of the One Nation Tour as we put forth efforts to revitalize the fundamental restoration of America by highlighting our nation's heart, history, and founding principles," she wrote.
The fair that Palin plans to attend will take place less than an hour from Ames, where the straw poll will be conducted at Iowa State University. The poll will reflect the GOP presidential candidates receiving the most support from the state.
Palin’s presence may overshadow the events which may prove important for GOP presidential hopefuls Tim Pawlenty and Michele Bachmann who have frequented the state for support, according to The Los Angeles Times.
However, this is not the first time that Palin has crashed a GOP party. The former governor of Alaska first launched her One Nation tour on Memorial Day, stating that she wanted to view historic sites around the country, according to Los Angeles Times.
One of Palin’s first stops on the tour was New Hampshire where Mitt Romney announced that he planned to participate in the 2012 presidential election during the same time. When Michele Bachmann decided to announce her candidacy in Waterloo, Iowa, Palin made headlines for attending a documentary premiere in the state that spoke about her term as governor in Alaska.
Although Palin has yet to announce her candidacy, she spoke about being excited to partake in the food at the fair while poking fun at current president Barack Obama, who suggested that the GOP congress members eat their peas during the debt ceiling debate.
"I'm also excited to try some of that famous fried butter-on-a-stick, fried cheesecake-on-a-stick, fried twinkies, etc,” Palin wrote in her email to supporters. “I'll enjoy them in honor of those who'd rather make us just 'eat our peas'!"
