Steve Jobs Death: Biological Father Left With Unfulfilled Wish - to Meet Him
Former Apple founder and CEO, Steve Jobs, had a long and hard journey to success. The journey of the innovative mind that has been praised for his vision, talent, and bravery actually began shortly after birth.
Steven Paul Jobs was born in San Francisco, Calif. and was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs.
Jobs was given up for adoption by his mother Joanne Simpson and his father Abdulfattah John Jandali, a Syrian immigrant.
Jandali told the New York Post that Jobs was given up for adoption because Simpson’s parents did not approve of her marrying a man of Syrian decent. However, Jandali wanted to keep his son.
Jandali reached out to Jobs on several occasions via email but was never responded to.
In August of this year, Jandali told the British newspaper The Sun, “I live in hope that before it is too late he will reach out to me. Even to have just one coffee with him just once would make me a very happy man.”
Jandali said that he never called his son due to his fear that Jobs would be skeptical that his biological father, a man that did not raise him, was now reaching out to him solely to have access to his fortune.
He said, “Steve will have to do that as the Syrian pride in me does not want him to ever think I am after his fortune. I am not. I have my own money. What I don’t have is my son … and that saddens me.”
Jandali is the vice president at Boomtown Hotel Casino in Reno, Nev. When asked today about his son’s death, Jandali told the International Business Times, “I really don’t have anything to say.”
With the sad news of Jobs passing, Jandali, who is now 80, will never have the opportunity for his dream to come true, to get to meet his famous son over a cup of coffee.
Although Jobs’ biological father did not get his wish, the Jobs family has released a statement saying, “Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family.”
