Terrell Owens Visits Korea for Stem Cell Treatment to Heal ACL
Terrell Owens is in Korea hoping to receive treatment that will help rehabilitate him and re-ignite his career.
After the second week of the official NFL season, the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver is still a free agent, Owens flew to Korea in hopes of receiving stem cell treatments that would help repair his ACL.
Dr. James Andrews, a sports medicine specialist at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthapaedic Center in Birmingham, Ala. recommended that the WR go to the Chaum Anti-Aging center in the United States.
Dr. Lee Jung-no, doctor and president of the Chaum Anti-Aging center, told The Korea Times about how Owens made his way to Korea.
“We do have our branch hospital in the United States, and Dr. Andrews advised Owens to contact it first, which then led him to visit our office here,” Lee said, according to The Korea Times. “Mr. Owens starts with therapy Monday followed by the collecting and storing of his stem cells the next day.”
Owens has been a pro-bowl player six times, from 2000 to 2004 and in 2007. The WR holds the record of 15,394 receiving yards and 153 touchdowns.
At 37-years-old, Owens has played 15 seasons on five different teams. Although a knee injury has prevented him from playing this season thus far, Owens does not seem to be worried about his future.
The WR said he will let God guide his career.
"I'm on God's time,” Owens tweeted on Tuesday. “When he wants me ready then the world will know! God bless.”
Until he fully recovers, Lee expressed his excitement for having the football player visit his health clinic.
“I very much welcome Mr. Owen’s visit to Korea, as such a big sports figure will help attract other world-class athletes,” Lee said, according to The Korean Times.
