This week marks the anniversary of when Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance released a report reviewing the financial practices of ministries led by six high-profile televangelists following years of investigation.

The report sought to investigate six parachurch organizations: Benny Hinn's World Healing Center Church, Creflo Dollar's World Changers Church International, Eddie Long's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Joyce Meyer Ministries, Kenneth Copeland Ministries, and Without Walls International Church, formerly led by Randy and Paula White before they divorced.

Of the "Grassley 6," only Hinn and Meyer fully cooperated with the committee investigation and reportedly implemented financial reforms.

"My goal is to help improve accountability and good governance so tax-exempt groups maintain public confidence in their operations," stated Grassley at the time.

"The staff review sets the stage for a comprehensive discussion among churches and religious organizations. I look forward to helping facilitate this dialogue and fostering an environment for self-reform within the community."
