Thomas Nelson Names New CEO
A new Chief Executive Officer has been commissioned to serve the largest Christian publishing company in the world and the ninth-largest trade book publisher in North America.
Bible publisher Thomas Nelson, Inc. has commissioned a new Chief Executive Officer, the company’s Board of Directors announced yesterday.
Michael S. Hyatt, 50, of Nashville was selected as the new CEO, succeeding to that post from Sam Moore, who has agreed to remain as Chairman of the Board.
Moore is hopeful that Hyatt will be able to facilitate growth within Thomas Nelson Inc., which is the largest Christian publishing company in the world and the ninth-largest trade book publisher in North America.

“This change is part of the management succession process designed to ensure that our Company will continue to grow well into the future,” commented Moore. “Mike Hyatt has served ably as President and Chief Operating Officer for the past 18 months, demonstrating a deep understanding of the publishing and operational sides of our business, as well as an inspiring talent for leadership.”
“I wholeheartedly agree with our Board that Mike is the person to lead us into the twenty first century,” he continued.
Regarding his position as Chairman, Moore said that he will be, “devoting particular attention to deepening the relationships we have with the leading creators of Christian and inspirational works,” according to a news release.
Hyatt, who has been working for Thomas Nelson for 12 years, was thankful for Moore’s decision to continue working with the company.
