Thousands of Carolers Sing to Terminally Ill Girl, Delaney Brown, Grant Child Her Christmas Wish (VIDEO)
A young girl dying from a rare form of cancer was granted her wish as thousands of residents of a Pennsylvania town flooded the streets to sing Christmas carols to her.
Eight-year-old Delaney Brown was the focus of more than 4,000 carolers who gathered outside her house on Saturday night to fulfil her wish of a mass sing-a-long outside her home in West Reading, PA.
Delaney was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in May and was recnlety told that her condition deteriorated further.
The heart-warming event was set up after Delaney's family heard her grim prognosis last week, which her mother shared via Facebook. Delaney suffers from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with monosomy 7, which health experts reveal affects only about 10 children a year, making it one of the rarest forms of childhood cancer known.
The thousands who gathered wanted to make one of her wishes come true after her mom posted the devastating news of her child's prognosis on Facebook.
"Today we were told the worst news of our lives," wrote Delaney's mom Jennifer Brown. 'Laney has 70% cancer cells in her blood. If they would treat the cancer the virus that she has would kill her. And if they treat the virus the cancer will kill her."
Delaney also got to cross off another wish recently after she was able to talk to her favorite singer, Taylor Swift, through video chat in a meeting that was setup by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Swift, who grew up in the neighboring town of Wyomissing, surprised Delaney with the call and left a huge smile on the young girls face.
"Laney was so nervous to talk to her because she is such a 'famous celebrity,'" Brown wrote on Facebook. "I was actually worried that when Taylor Facetimed her that she would be to scared to talk but Taylor was fabulous!! She really engaged Laney in conversation. Laney lit up and had a huge smile on her face. I can't thank Taylor enough."
