YouVersion Developers to Launch Free Bible App for Kids on Thanksgiving Day

A free Bible app for children developed by YouVersion is set for launch on Thanksgiving day, complete with illustrations and interactive experiences, which promises to bring the "love for God's word" to young ones.

"What if your kids could walk through the garden with Adam and Eve, or journey through Bethlehem the night Jesus was born," a promotional video for the app states.  "Through an animated adventure, your kids will explore the big stories of the Bible, earn rewards for special challenges, open the Bible again and again, and begin a lifetime of love for God's word."

The animated storybook app is made for smartphones and tablets, and features colorful illustrations with touch-activated animations, games and activities to help children remember what they learn, and a kid-friendly navigation, the official website explains.

People interested in downloading the Bible App for Kids can get a head start by entering their phone number on the site, where they will receive a text on Thursday once the app is ready to go.

In July, the YouVersion Bible app topped 100 million downloads worldwide, with the ministry releasing a series of infographics to help commemorate the milestone

"We're excited to see the Bible rising in the ranks, because it means God's Word is becoming more widely known," Pastor Bobby Gruenewald of LifeChurch.tv in Oklahoma previously told The Christian Post. "One day we hope it would far exceed the popularity of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram."

The popular app was among the first 200 apps available on iTunes, which now has over 900,000. The Bible App has been among the top 100 free apps for three consecutive years according to Apple, and is available for virtually every mobile device.

LifeChurch.tv, which is behind the YouVersion initiative, was started in 1996 with a mission to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ by helping people connect the Bible to their daily lives.
