Baby Girl 'Resurrected' After Being Left on Chapel Altar

A baby girl was found alive on the altar of a hospital chapel after being pronounced dead at birth. Her family intends to change her name to Victoria and believe her resurrection is a miracle.

The baby girl, initially known as Yasmin, was born alive but stopped breathing just moments later. Doctors tried to revive her multiple times but eventually declared the baby dead and issued her a death certificate.

"My world crashed down right then," the baby's mother, Jenifer da Silva Gomes, told Tanosite website. "It was the most desperate moment when all my dreams were snatched away."

A nurse took the baby's body to the hospital's chapel because she could not handle sending her to the morgue.

"She's a little angel, a child," nurse Ana Claudia Oliveira said. "I just couldn't face the thought of her being sent down to the morgue. I can assure you, the child was dead. Her pupils didn't respond to light. All her signs pointed to the complete absence of life. I saw it with my own eyes. She was blue all over, completely dead."

Oliveira placed Yasmin's body on the altar and left her there, not expecting anything to happen. However, when a family friend came by to pick up the body for the funeral parlor, the baby responded.

"It was an incredibly emotional moment," Rosilis Ferro said. "I began to shake and I couldn't speak, I was overwhelmed with happiness. I called a nurse who at first didn't believe it. She told us they were just spasms. But then the baby opened her eyes."

The baby is now in intensive care at the hospital and described as in stable condition. Her family, meanwhile, are giving thanks to God for their daughter's life being restored.

"There is no explaining miracles," Jenifer said. "They happen as God wants. If it was his will that our daughter had died, we would have accepted it. But he brought her back, so there must be a higher purpose in all this."
