Channing Tatum Confirms 'Magic Mike' Sequel and Broadway Play

Actor Channing Tatum is going to be very busy in coming months and has confirmed that he is already at work on a "Magic Mike" sequel and musical for the summer of 2013. Tatum told Glamour U.K. he and director Steven Soderberg they "want to flip the script and make it bigger."

The movie, partially based on Tatum's experiences as a stripper, brought a lot of interest to the big screen, and Tatum plans to continue its success with a sequel and Broadway musical. "Magic Mike" has already taken in more than $75 million since opening June 29.

Tatum told "Out" magazine that while stripping paid the bills, there was nothing glamorous about the work he did.

"You're just a guy taking off his clothes, looking like a fool in a stupid outfit. I never enjoyed the taking-the-clothes-off part," Tatum said. "You are on a stage with people yelling at you and you feel like you're a rock star, but you're nothing."

Acting is where Tatum's heart lies now, even if the roles he plays are based on his real life.

"I've been acting for eight years now, and I feel I'm just starting to understand things. I want to keep finding people I can learn from," he explained.

"Magic Mike" caused a flurry of excitement and buzz, not only for its storyline, but its cast. The movie starred Channing Tatum along with Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello. There's no word yet on who will be cast in the Broadway play, but if previous interest is any idea, viewers might not care.

Tatum also told Glamour that he would be interested in starring in the soon-to-be film "Fifty Shades of Grey," based on the best-selling book. He only has one requirement: that his wife play lead protagonist Ana.

"I'd only be allowed if my wife was Ana. She's read the books, so I don't think she'd be impressed if she couldn't be Ana!" he said.
