Channing Tatum Plans to Direct

Channing Tatum has revealed his plans for 2013, including taking a break from acting in order to get behind the camera instead.

Despite being named GQ's "Man of the Year" by GQ and People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" this year, the actor is ready to pursue other interests besides acting.

"We have about three to four ideas that we love that are all in the hopper," said the 32-year-old star while speaking to Entertainment Weekly.

"By the end of next year, we're going to shut things down and write the first thing that we're going to direct," Tatum added, referring to his production partner, Reid Carolin.

While the actor's hiatus will disappoint fans, Tatum insisted it would benefit his career.

"We're going to be like, alright, no more acting parts for a minute, let's take a few and really get caring about that section of our career," said the actor.

The year 2012 saw three hit films for Tatum; "The Vow," "21 Jumpstreet," and "Magic Mike." The coming year will not see any less of the actor, who will appear in films including "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," "Side Effects," "White House Down," and "Foxcatcher."

Today, the actor reflects on his accomplishments with pride, but is ready for a new challenge.

"I love the steps that I've taken acting-wise, that has been a wild sort of exploration," explained the hunky actor to Entertainment Weekly. "But I don't want to just keep putting [directing] off for these fun and incredible opportunities."

Married to Jenna Dewan-Tatum since 2009, Tatum's life may see even more changes coming in the near future. The actor recently revealed that he and his wife are ready to start a family.

"I'm ready; I think she's ready," Tatum told People magazine about having children. "The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that."

Both actors have gushed about their marriage in the past. Dewan-Tatum recently described her husband as "emotionally deep and spiritually open," according to the magazine.

"He is such a open-hearted person," said the 31-year-old "American Horror Story" star. "What you see is what you get."
