Clive Davis Slammed by Howard Stern for Clarkson Remarks

Clive Davis has received backlash from even Howard Stern after making comments about Kelly Clarkson in his newly-released memoir this week.

"The Soundtrack of My Life," which offers a personal, candid look at Davis' 50 years in the music industry, was released on Tuesday.

Subsequently, the 80-year-old has been accused of mischaracterizing "American Idol" alum Kelly Clarkson after describing the differences he had with the singer. Davis' comments have resulted in a very public back-and-forth between himself and Clarkson.

Surprisingly coming to Clarkson's defense on Friday was radio personality Stern.

"I always find it sickening when management guys like to set the record straight about how [expletive] creative and what geniuses they are," Stern said, taking aim at Davis during his radio show on Wednesday.

"And, like, this guy's trying to diminish what she does," added the radio host. "Doesn't he have enough in life? Can't he sort of tell his story without [expletive] degrading her and putting her down?"

Davis served as executive producer of Clarkson's 2003 debut album. Stern's comments were in reference to what the veteran producer divulged about the issues he had with Clarkson's second album, "Breakaway."

According to his memoir, Clarkson had a "very tough conversation, and it didn't get any easier when Kelly burst into hysterical sobbing."

Clarkson has also stepped up to her own defense, stating she will not be "bullied" by the producer.

"So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music," started the hitmaker in a post to WhoSay.com.

"I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapse and misinformation for myself and for my fans," Clarkson continued. "It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone- even Clive Davis."

The singer said that Davis was "mixed up" and added corrective details about her songs.

Meanwhile, Davis has since taken the offense on matters over his memoir, reminding his Twitter followers that he regards Clarkson as "a tremendous vocal talent and performer." Davis also acknowledged "a few creative differences" between himself and the "Stronger" singer, but claimed that the memoir was "an accurate depiction."
