Bible Book of Ruth Used by Glen Beck to Tell Israel 'You Are Not Alone'

Expressing his unending support for the Jewish state, former Fox News talk show host Glenn Beck received a warm welcome and a steady stream of applause from members of a parliament committee in Israel Monday.

Beck, expressing his staunch support for the nation, quoted the Bible book of Ruth when he told reporters, politicians, and the general Israeli public in a media event, "Where you go, I shall go, Your people is my people, your God is my God."

Speaking later before a packed room of politicians and other guests, Beck reassured his audience that, despite what might be seen in the media, America remains Israel's biggest supporter.

“You are not alone,” he said.

The conservative and controversial commentator was invited to speak before the parliament by Danny Danon of the Likud Party, chairman of the Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee.

Danon told reporters that he invited Beck to speak to his committee “because he has done such a wonderful job of explaining the basic truth on his programs. Israel has always been and always will be the homeland of the Jewish People, and any attempts to delegitimize this right should not be accepted by fair and free people around the world."

Some lawmakers, however, were not totally pleased with Beck, criticizing his stance on a two-state solution to the Mideast peace plan, which would mean a Palestinian state existing alongside a Jewish state.

When asked about his view on this issue, Beck told the Jerusalem Post, "I'm not against a Palestinian state. I'm not here for a political solution.”

He added, “There's something bigger than politics here.

This is Beck's second visit to Israel this year and he's expected to return a third time for his “Restoring Courage” rally, to be held in Jerusalem in August.

Beck left Fox News last month when his show's ratings took a dive. Since then, he's been working on various projects, including an online show he plans to launch in September.
