In the publication's May 2011 issue, the rumor section broke the news: "Kratos is on his way back, with his next adventure set to feature multiplayer."

A source for the magazine told them that “God of War IV” is coming, and will hit in September 2012.

"Our source works closely with the God of War universe, and let slip he'd be working on a related project at the same time," the magazine said.

A job listing was recently discovered on recruitment website Creative Heads led some to believe that "God of War IV" is being developed.

The listing said: "Join the GOW team. The Santa Monica Studio is an open and creative environment, where we strive to make the best games in the industry. Join us as we embark on our next project."

The job position was meant to fill a position for Sony's Santa Monica studio. This studio was responsible for creating the home console entries in the God of War series.

The portable installments for the game series were developed by Ready at Dawn Studios.

Santa Monica studio ended the trilogy portion for the game that led many to believe the series was finished. The studio went on to say it’s "not the end" for the Sony franchise.

Some say that the next God of War will be either the fourth sequel or a spin-off.

Sony has not confirmed that the game is in development and the release date is only a rumor now.
