Jay Leno Snakes Comment Pokes Further Fun at NBC Executives (VIDEO)

Jay Leno has called NBC executives "snakes" despite reportedly already being warned earlier this month after making some jokes at their expense.

On Monday night during Leno's show he used his monologue section to make fun of NBC executives by calling them a bunch of snakes.

He said, "Well you know the whole legend of St. Patrick, right? St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland, and then they came here to the United States and became NBC executives … It's a fascinating, fascinating story."

It's not sure how the joke went down with the top dogs at NBC, but they are unlikely to be amused, after some heated exchanges already with Leno earlier this month. They could feel that rather than letting the tensions die down, Leno - by making repeated public comments like this - will just further air their dirty laundry to viewers.

According to reports Leno and NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt exchanged some heated emails earlier this month, after Leno made jokes at the NBC network, specifically about it falling to fifth in the ratings behind Univision.

That apparently hit a raw nerve with executives at the network, who are obviously frantic about stopping the network's slide in ratings.

Rumors have been circulating about Jay Leno exiting NBC in recent months, although nothing official has been confirmed by Leno or the network. However, those same rumors have suggested that some at NBC want to bring on board Jimmy Fallon to the Tonight Show to replace Leno.

The move is thought to be NBC's attempt to compete with younger hosts of other networks such as Jimmy Kimmel.
