After Jay-z performed the song "Glory" that he wrote for new baby Blue Ivy, the rapper admitted that it made him emotional. Monday night was the first time he performed the song, which alludes to a miscarriage that wife Beyonce had in the past.

"I didn't think I was going to make it through that one," Jay-Z said. "That was tough."

Jay-Z picked Monday and Tuesday to perform at the Carnegie Hall venue and all tickets have been sold out. The proceeds from the performances will honor the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way of New York City.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, is the second hip-hop musician to perform in Carnegie Hall, behind Wyclef Jean, according to Yahoo. Still, Jay-Z welcomed some of his friends on the stage during Monday night's performance, including rapper Nas and singer Alicia Keys.

During the show, the rapper also paid homage to influential people in music, such as Don Cornelius and Bob Marley.

The show lasted for 90 minutes, complete with three sets. Some famous audience members in attendance included Liza Minneli, Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia and model Brooklyn Decker. Jay-Z's wife, Beyonce, was also in attendance at Carnegie Hall and joined her husband for a party following the performance, according to Global Grind.

Jay-Z performed a medley of his older hits which included "PSA," "Heart of The City," and "Hard Knock Life." He will perform for one more night in Carnegie Hall on Tuesday.
