Kanye West 'I Am God' 2013 Title is A Song, Not an Album

Kanye West's "I Am God" album turned out to be a rumor, although there was some truth to it. The rapper isn't naming his album that, but he will be naming a song "I Am A God," according to new reports.

Kanye West's "I Am God" album, scheduled for 2013, was suggested by a BBC report. The main gist of the article was West and girlfriend Kim Kardashian's idea to name their child North West, but an aside ended up becoming the most important thing in the story.

"Neither the rapper nor his possibly even more famous partner, Kim Kardashian, are best known for their self-deprecating sallies," Charles Nevin wrote for BBC, "although the title Kanye is supposed to be contemplating for his new album, I Am God, is said to be 'half tongue-in-cheek.'"

Instead, an insider came forward anonymous denying the reports the same day Tuesday, saying that naming the album that would be "presumptuous."

"We would never be so presumptuous or sacrilegious to call ourselves the supreme being," the source told the Huffington Post.

However, a song title on West's album is reportedly the equally sacrilegious "I Am A God"- apparently it's a reference to the idea that all human beings are god-like, and it's attributed to Psalm 82.

"@TeamKanyeChi its I am(A) GOD" FAMO #psalms 82," Malik Yusef, West's personal songwriter and a spoken word artist, tweeted.

"I said, 'You are gods,' and all of you are children of the Most High," Psalm 82:6 reads.

However, various Bible scholars have pointed out that Psalm 82 and other similar passages aren't calling humans divine rulers of the universe, but that gods translated from the original Hebrew refers to magistrates, judges, or others in authority.
