London Olympics Opening Ceremony Live Stream: Where to Watch Online NBC Olympics (PHOTO)

The London Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony will be broadcast to more than 1 billion people across the globe. It starts at 9 p.m. London time (4 p.m. ET) on July 27, with an amazing $42.5 million (GBP 27 million) special performance planned by Oscar winning director Danny Boyle; it promises to be one of the greatest opening ceremonies in Olympic history. The Olympic Games can be watched online through live stream on NBC Olympics (details below) but the Opening Ceremony will not be shown live as U.S. television wants to broadcast it exclusively on TV from 7.30 p.m (ET).

YouTube will also have an official Olympics channel up and running for the Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will be posting videos directly from London's best action. This will be perfect for those using mobile devices and watching on the go; the site has more than 2200 hours of footage from qualifying events available already.

The world's top sports stars will take part in the ceremony on Friday, which will be watched by celebrities, fans, as well as members of the British Royal Family, including the Queen herself.

Danny Boyle, director of "Slumdog Millionaire," "127 Hours," "28 Days Later," and "Trainspotting," has promised an eventful ceremony The show, entitled "Isles of Wonder," is set to feature a cast of several thousand performers, though most of the specific details have been kept a heavily guarded secret.

The ceremony is set to celebrate the Olympics, and Boyle has described it simply saying, "'Isles of Wonder' salutes and celebrates the exuberant creativity of the British genius in an Opening Ceremony that we hope will be as unpredictable and inventive as the British people."

The London Olympics Opening Ceremony kicks off at 9 p.m. London time (4 p.m ET) on Friday, July 27 and will be broadcast on NBC TV at 7:30 p.m. ET.

It will run no more than three hours according to IOC executive director Gilbert Felli.
