Matthew McConaughey Striptease as Father Figure: 'I Gotta Dance' (VIDEO)

Mathew McConaughey has built a reputation of being a show off because the actor is frequently photographed without a shirt. To add to his already steamy ego, the actor has revealed that he stripped in a recent movie because vanity and competition got the best of him.

McConaughey is set to play Dallas, a father figure who also owns a strip club in his latest film, "Mike's Place." A father himself, McConaughey is no stranger to throwing himself in the spotlight with less than the usual attire. The father of two is frequently spotted around town without a shirt.

This time, McConaughey decided to really bare it all in "Mike's Place," regardless of the fact that stripping wasn't exactly in the script. Why?

"I gotta dance, man," McConaughey said on set while filming one of the last scenes.

"It wasn't in the script, but [director Steven Soderbergh] said in the beginning that if it felt right, I could strip at the end of the movie," McConaughey told The Advocate. "I would regret it for the rest of my life if I was in a male stripper movie and didn't get up there and strip myself."

As far as describing his stripping experience, McConaughey revealed that it was "like a drug." The actor said it was "scary as hell" at first but then he "couldn't wait to do it again." When it comes to competing, McConaughey also revealed that he wasn't afraid to get dirty.

"Look, I love to dance, but I've never been a stripper. Channing's one of the best hip-hop street dancers I've ever seen, and I didn't want to challenge his style, so I worked on my own strengths," McConaughey told The Advocate. "I also knew that my dance had to be the dirtiest. It had to be wonderfully filthy."

His best advice for getting a man in shape?

"Vanity, baby," the actor said "if you really want to get men in great shape, just tell them they're going to play male strippers in a movie and have their s--- onscreen for the rest of time."
