Nexus 4 LTE Connectivity Available in Select Cities

LTE connectivity with the LG Nexus 4 is available in select cities throughout the U.S.

The device does not officially support LTE, but its specs include a deactivated-LTE antenna that operates on a 1700MHz band only.

Various hackers have found a way to activate it and have it functioning on AT&T's 4G LTE network. However, it only appears to be working in specific cities.

LTE connectivity for the Nexus 4 is available in Athens, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, College Station, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Raleigh, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The LG Nexus 4 launched on Sprint and AT&T last month and features some impressive specs.

The handset also comes with Android 4.2, JellyBean pre-installed, which is also the latest build of Android software.

Specifications on the Nexus 4 include a 4.7-inch display with 1280 x 768 pixel resolution and 320 ppi, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera, NFC (near-field-communications), a slimport HDMI port, and wireless charging capabilities.

In terms of power, the device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU with 2GB RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of internal memory, depending on what model is purchased.

The Nexus 4 sells for $299 with a new contract from a major carrier and is also available contract free.

However, it is not an easy smartphone to come by, as it sold out extremely quick in many areas throughout the world after its initial launch.

The Nexus 4 quickly sold out at all retailers after its mid-November launch in the U.S. Similar instances happened during the device's rollout in Canada and other countries. Google resumed the sale of the handset last week in those same countries.

Many device orders for the Nexus 4 are now saying that it will ship in 6-7 weeks from now.
