Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey Marriage Successful Due to 'Spirituality'

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey have been married since 2008 and are the proud parents of twin toddlers, Moroccan and Monroe. The couple appear on the cover of "Ebony" magazine and spoke about their relationship, which is based on spirituality and their loving family.

"It was early on when I found out how spiritual she was," Cannon told the magazine, "and we had conversations about kids and how to live life. For her to share her values, it instantly let me know this is the person I've always wanted."

The two have worked hard to keep their relationship alive and well while working hard, raising children, and battling Cannon's lupus. They recently celebrated their fifth anniversary and renewed their vows with a Cinderella-themed wedding at Disneyland. The two also celebrated the twins' second birthday, making the occasion even more special.

Cannon has often referred to the importance of spirituality, and his father James is a motivational speaker and televangelist. He has often relied on his beliefs and faith in order to overcome health issues such as lupus. Cannon also called his wife's pregnancy spiritual.

"I think it's more of a spiritual thing," Cannon told Us Magazine not long after announcing his wife's pregnancy. "Like trying to stay true and stay private for as long as you possibly can. She wants to keep as much privacy as she possibly can. She'll talk when she's ready. I love kids. I'm all about kids. I'm a big kid! Whatever happens, whatever life God blesses you with, you have to take it and appreciate it."

Cannon's father asked for prayer when his son was diagnosed with lupus and fighting for his life in the hospital.

"The power of God is riding on the words of the person that trust God, and speaks them with faith. The power of God is what makes the difference," James posted on Facebook. "When a person loves God you don't have to be perfect. Just be ready for when the devil attacks, to look for the power of God to show up. The truth is God has a plan for each of us."
