Pat Boone, Legendary Singer, Releases New Album

Iconic singer Pat Boone has released yet another album this month in honor of an inspiring musical group from years ago, The Ink Spots.

"Pat Boone Sings a Tribute to The Ink Spots" adds to Boone's nearly 120 albums that have spanned six decades. The album features the 77-year-old covering tracks by the gospel group of the 1930s.

At the age of 23, Boone hosted ABC's "The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom;" a show that saw musical performances by stars such as Edie Adams, Johnny Mathis, and Andy Williams. Once he began touring as a rock and roll artist in the 1950s, Elvis Presley opened for Boone and would later become "the King" of rock and roll.

While Boone is well known for his sometimes controversial political views, the public often overlooks how his career influenced the music industry. By frequently covering popular black R&B artists such as Fats Domino and Little Richard during the '50s, Boone helped break down the walls of injustice and broadened the scope on music.

Speaking to The Christian Post, the gospel singer explained that his granddaughter introduced him to The Ink Spots. Upon hearing the group- which would have turned 80 years old last year- Boone felt compelled to create an album honoring them.

"Pat Boone Sings a Tribute to the Ink Spots" features Take 6, a group Boone has taken under his wing. The album sees songs such as "Java Jive" and "If I Didn't Care" as well as many others including "Cow Cow Boogie" which features Boone, Take 6, and Ella Fitzgerald.

Also a bestselling author, Boone has served as a motivational speaker, television personality, and conservative political commentator over the course of his legendary career. He has sold nearly 50 million records from the 1950s on and had 38 Top 40 hits and numerous gold and platinum records.

Describing Elvis Presley as "humble," Boone told CP that the rock star as well as other starlets of the '70s spoke to him about God.

"Shirley and I held Bible studies at our home," divulged the singer. He and his wife have hosted celebrities such as Doris Day, Glenn Ford, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Priscilla Presley at their home in Beverly Hills, Calif. over the years.

Boone received a Lifetime Achievement Award at Conservative Political Action Conference in 2011. He remains an active public speaker as well as a conservative political commentator today.
