Steph Curry Joins Feed the Children to Help 400 Oakland Families
Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry and his family helped provide food for 400 Oakland families who are facing economic hardship this year.
"I've been a member of [the Oakland] community since 2009, and it's important for me to give back this holiday season to the fans that give so much to us all year long," Curry, who helped the Warriors bring Oakland a 2014-2015 NBA Championship title, told Warriors.com about the experience of working with Feed the Children at the Beebe Memorial Cathedral.
The 27 year old was joined by his wife, Ayesha; daughter, Riley; sister, Sydel; mother, Sonya, and father, former NBA star Dell Curry, at the cathedral where he met and advised students to "stay in school, stay focused every day, and to spend the holidays appreciating your family and people in your life."

Food and personal care items were provided by the Curry family and the Warriors Community Foundation which teamed up with Feed the Children hunger relief organization to supply families with a 25-pound box of dry food, one box of personal care products and a box of Aveda hygienic products.
Speaking about Curry and his family, Pastor Charley Hames Jr. of the Beebe Memorial Cathedral, where food and supplies were distributed, told Warriors.com that "So many members of this community are in dire financial circumstances, and the holidays really bring those struggles to light. What Stephen and the Golden State Warriors are sharing with them is not just some food and items to ease their burden, but a reminder that there are fellow members of their community that care for their well-being and want them to have a wonderful holiday and New Year."
Sonya, Steph's mother, revealed that the Curry family's no stranger to giving back to their community.
"Our family has been involved with Feed the Children for many years because it is a great way to impact the lives of so many people who are desperate for assistance at this time of the year," she said.
Curry's father, Dell, added, "It's important for everyone to be thankful for the family around you and to help those in need in your community during the holiday months and whenever you can."
During an interview last year, Curry explained that his parents were instrumental in leading him to Christ by getting him involved and active in church.
"My parents had us in church every Sunday, every Wednesday. It was more of a tradition at that point; I didn't have a personal relationship with the Lord until I went to the altar call one Sunday and the youth pastor told us to make a decision for ourselves," Curry told sports apparel brand Active Faith. "The youth pastor told us we had to make a decision for ourselves, we couldn't rely on our parents. It had to be a decision on our own, and that's when I made it."
