‘SVU' Actor Chris Maloni To Join ‘True Blood?’
Former star on “Law and Order: SVU” Chris Maloni has reportedly been in talks with HBO over appearing on the hit series “True Blood.”
TVLine reported that the 50-year-old actor has been tapped to play “a hard-bodied fiftysomething” new character on HBO’s vampire series. Maloni would likely play the father of “True Blood” character Alcide – “who isn’t likely to share a water bowl with the new pack leader anytime soon,” said the series’ casting directors, TVLine reported.
The actor is best known for his role on “Law and Order” as NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler. However, after announcing that he would not return for the show’s 13th season, Meloni has remained mostly under the radar. He appeared on HBO’s prison drama “Oz” and is currently filming his role as Colonel Hardy in the film by Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan “Superman” reboot – “Man of Steel.”

The casting call for the new season of “True Blood” indicated the search for character named J.D., and seeks: “50s, a particularly large Marine-type werewolf, he refuses to bow down before the new pack leader…”
Other reports indicated that Maloni would be cast as the “incredibly powerful” vampire which “True Blood” producer Alan Ball allegedly wants to add to the list of characters.
Meloni and HBO have not yet confirmed reports that the actor will appear on “True Blood.” His new movie “Man of Steel” is scheduled to premiere in 2013.
The fifth season of the series begins in June 2012 on HBO.
According to trueblood.net, the next season will pick up right where season four left off, and see actors Anna Paquin, Alexander Skarshard, and Steven Meyer reprise their roles.
