Tim Tebow is known for his philanthropic efforts, but now his foundation is challenging others to join him next Saturday for a one-day worldwide event known as Team Tebow Service Day 2016.

"Team Tebow Service Day 2016 is being held to encourage Team Tebow members and others to serve in their community where they are most passionate," a statememnt on the Tim Tebow Foundation website reads.

"Service day projects are completely up to you and can be as simple as a neighborhood trash clean-up or as organized as recruiting a team for a local charity 5k. Our hope is that you would serve your community where you are most passionate!"

To join more than 21,000 Team Tebow members around the world, people are asked to register for the service day which will enable them to receive special Team Tebow service bracelets. People who participate in the day of service are encouraged to share photographs and their service story with the Tim Tebow Foundation, which will then share the stories on its website.

In an interview with People magazine back in 2014, Tebow spoke about his devotion to serving people in need, saying: "I hope that when I'm 90 years old, I've accomplished a legacy that isn't all about me. I hope it's a legacy about the people who our foundation helps. We're about to open a hospital in the Philippines. We'll have this hospital where we can help kids who are hurting; healing them physically, but encouraging them emotionally and spiritually as well."

The 28-year-old Heisman Trophy winner-turned-SEC college football analyst now uses much of his time conducting motivational speeches and doing philanthropic work. When speaking to Northside Christian Church in Fresno, California, last April, the Christian athlete challenged people to make a difference.

"You might think, 'I'm not a role model. There aren't these people that are looking up to me,'" Tebow said in his sermon, according to The Fresno Bee. "And my response to that is: There is probably someone who is looking up to you. … There is someone that their life is going to be changed because of you. The question is, 'Is it going to be changed for the better or the worse?'
