Duggar Family Invites Kids to Learn the Bible

The Duggar family, stars of the TLC reality series “19 Kids and Counting,” have added a new feature to their recently enhanced website, inviting children to an interactive Bible study program designed by The Seed Company, which announced its partnership with the Duggars Wednesday.

The Duggar Family website’s kids section now carries the KidsDiscover program to teach children “the joy of Bible storytelling.” It came as a component of the new partnership between the world’s fastest growing Bible translation organizations, The Seed Company, and the Duggar family.

“As a parent, one of the most powerful tips we can provide other families is to teach their children to love God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength and to memorize His word as a family,” said Jim Bob Duggar, father of 19, in a statement by The Seed Company, founded in 1993 by Wycliffe Bible Translators.

“By partnering with The Seed Company, we are not only providing families with the tools to grow closer to God, but we are also providing them with a way to grow closer as a family through God,” Duggar said, adding that his family hoped that families utilize the KidsDiscover program as “a catalyst to share the Bible together and simultaneously consider the opportunity to share the gift of God’s word with a family across the globe.”

Developed by The Seed Company’s OneVerse ministry, KidsDiscover is an interactive and educational program designed to engage children in Bible by bringing families together to experience the Scriptures through storytelling.

This fall, the Duggar’s website will also launch an interactive online game challenging children to build a village in Tanzania. The game, called MakaziVille, will make children aware of some harsh realities other parts of the world face and challenge them to overcome social, religious, environmental and economical obstacles.

The Seed Company’s CEO Roy Peterson feels “extremely blessed” to partner with the Duggar family. “Becoming a recommended resource on the Duggar’s new website is a great opportunity, as we strive to reach a larger audience with our KidsDiscover program to help more families and children connect with the Scriptures while also providing them with an opportunity to support the Great Commission,” he said in the statement.

KidsDiscover offers two free 10-week programs for the Old Testament and the New Testament respectively. It takes participants on a journey from creation to the early church. After each weekly Bible story, children can evaluate their progress with vocabulary builders, challenge questions, fun games, downloadable worksheets, team activities and more.

Jim Bob and Michelle, Evangelical Christians, were married on July 21, 1984. Four years later, their first child, Josh, was born. Not ready for another one yet, Michelle began to take birth control pills. But she conceived and later suffered a miscarriage.

“As conservative Christians, we believe every life is sacred, even the life of the unborn. Due to our lack of knowledge, we destroyed the precious life of our unborn child. We prayed and studied the Bible and found a host of references that told us God considered children a gift, a blessing, and a reward. Yet we had considered having another child an inconvenience during that busy time in our lives, and we had taken steps to prevent it from happening,” the Duggars say on the website.

Since then, they decided to allow God to determine the number of children they would have.

Last year when the Duggar family played out their lives publicly on the “19 Kids and Counting” series, Americans remained glued to the television watching them undergo tough times after the youngest family member, Josie, was born premature at just 25 weeks.

“Our prayer is that each individual that watches our show, sees our interviews or reads this website will be challenged to draw closer to God, closer to their own family and discover the bigger picture about God’s plan for their own lives,” the Duggars says.
