Adele Sweeps Grammys with 'Ridiculous' 6 Awards

Adele swept the Grammys last night, winning a record six awards for her second album 21 and its single of love and loss, "Rolling in the Deep."

Adele won Grammys for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21, as well as Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Short Form Music Video for "Rolling in the Deep." She also won Best Pop Solo Performance for "Someone like You."

Adele's six Grammy Awards in just one night are the most ever for a female artist, tying with Beyonce, who also garnered six awards in 2010 for "I Am … Sasha Fierce" and its single, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)."

Adele, who was surprised by the "ridiculous" amount of awards she'd won by the end of the night, spoke of her inspiration for her record-breaking album.

"This record is inspired by something that is really normal and everyone's been through it – just a rubbish relationship," said the British songstress. "It's gone on to do things that I can't tell you how I feel about them … It's been the most life-changing year," said a grateful Adele through tears.

Adele also performed her stellar single, "Rolling in the Deep," for the audience, who responded with a sustained standing ovation, much to the enjoyment of the singer.

There was speculation that Adele's voice could be damaged after reports of her vocal surgery surfaced. However, after completing the operation, it seemed her soulful, sultry voice was back to normal during her well-received performance.

She thanked "the doctors who brought [her] voice back," for their help as a result.

In addition to Adele's wins, her producer, Paul Epworth, also won Grammys for Record of the Year with "Rolling in the Deep," Album of the Year for 21, and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical for his contributions.
