Alec Baldwin Ticks Off Greyhound

Alec Baldwin may soon find himself walking everywhere. The actor, recently escorted off an American Airlines flight, has now insulted Greyhound bus company.

Baldwin wrote an article entitled “My Flying Lesson,” in which he apologizes for his behavior with a noticeable tongue-in-cheek sarcasm.

"I would like to apologize to the other passengers onboard the American Airlines flight that I was thrown off of yesterday. It was never my intention to inconvenience anyone with my 'issue' with a certain flight attendant."

Baldwin specifically states that after September 11, there was a noticeable change in the industry and its treatment of clients. "September 11th was a horrific day in the airline industry, yet in the wake of that event, I believe carriers and airports have used that as an excuse to make the air travel experience as inelegant as possible."

Baldwin stated that airline attendants “have made flying a Greyhound bus experience.”

That did not make a good impression on the Greyhound family. President and CEO Dave Leach quickly issued a response directly to Baldwin.

“I’m the first to admit that Greyhound has had some challenges in the past, so I understand that you probably were basing your comments on that alone. But we’ve made so many changes in recent years to significantly improve the travel experience.”

He continued on to invite Baldwin “to give us a try for a number of reasons and see for yourself that we’re really a great way to travel. I invite you to meet with me in New York and we’ll take a trip to Boston so you can see first-hand what a great ride Greyhound can be.”

Leach specifically pointed out that Greyhound buses now feature free Wi-Fi along with plenty of power outlets. “We don’t require our customers to turn off their electronic devices…ever. You could therefore play ‘Words With Friends’ during your entire trip and nobody would give you any grief for it.”
