'Alien Skull' in Peru? Critics Point to Tribal Rituals as Explanation (VIDEO)

A mummified and misshaped skull has been unearthed in Peru, causing numerous tabloids to claim it proves the existence of aliens. Pictures show an elongated skull that seems as big as its 50cm body.

The strange skull was found in Andahuaylillas in the southern province of Quispicanchi in Peru.

The skull was unearthed by Renato Davila Riquelme, who works for the Privado Ritos Andinos museum in the country. Riquelme has claimed that the eye cavities indicate that the skull could not belong to a human as it is far bigger than anything previously seen in regular human skulls.

Evidence has also shown that the skill as an open fontanelle, which is the soft spot associated with newborn children in the first year of their lives. This would seemingly indicate it could have belonged to an extremely deformed child, however, the skull also contains two large molars, which is usually only found in much older people.

Anthropologists from across the globe have now been sent to the museum in Peru to investigate the find. Riquelme has said according to The Daily Mail: “Although the assessment was superficial, it is obvious that its features do not correspond to any ethnic group in the world.”

As news of the skull has become more widespread, an increasing number of scientists and anthropologists have come out to rebuke suggestions the skull could be alien.

Some have indicated that another possible explanation for the skull is that it could have been the result of a common tribal ritual. It is known that ancient people in certain regions had undertaken procedures involving skull modification.

Investigations are ongoing.
