Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich Now Used on Almost 30 Percent of Android Devices
Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich is now being used on almost 30 percent of Android devices.
This information was released by Google earlier this week when the company updated its Platform Versions website to reveal that 4.0 is now running on 25.8 percent of all Android devices.
To no surprise, Android 2.3, Gingerbread is still being run on over 50 percent of all Android devices with Android 2.1, Éclair ranking in third with just 3.1 percent.

This shows a significant boost as Android 4.0 was only running on one percent of Android devices around eight months ago.
The software was officially released about a year ago and came pre-installed in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It experienced a slow roll out as it had to be customized for all of the different Android devices that are currently available.
Google launched the next version Android 4.1, JellyBean earlier this year on the Google Nexus 7 tablet. It is only running on 2.7 percent of all Android devices at this time, but its growth rate should increase in the coming months as it is expected to roll out on many of the popular smartphones including the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note.
Many new Android devices have been launching with JellyBean preinstalled and its first major update was released earlier this week on the LG Nexus 4 smartphone and Samsung Nexus 10 tablet.
JellyBean rolled out for popular devices such as the Galaxy S3 in other parts of the world and should be arriving in the U.S. sometime in the next few months.
Apple's iOS 6 also launched recently and comes pre-installed on the new iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and 4th generation iPad.
