Android 4.3, JellyBean Galaxy S4 Update Coming Soon, Android 4.4, KitKat to Follow Shortly After?

The Android 4.3, JellyBean Galaxy S4 update should be arriving soon as a test build for the software leaked onto the internet today.

Sam Mobile reported on the leak and provided readers with instructions on how to install it. However, those that attempt this should do so with extreme caution as actions such as this can damage a smartphone and void the warranty.

The leak of this test version proves that Samsung and Google are most likely putting the finishing touches on the software which is rumored to be available for all Galaxy S4 models before the end of this month.

Android 4.4 KitKat should be following shortly after. Once it is introduced with the new Nexus 5 later this year, Samsung and Google will begin working on porting it to its flagship handset. That update should come sometime in 2014. The pure Android model will receive both of these updates before the carrier versions.

Android 4.3 debuted in the summer of this year with the new Nexus 7 tablet and comes pre-installed on that device. The software will also be available for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 before the end of 2013. That could end up being the final major software update for those 2012 flagship models. The Galaxy Note 3 will ship this month running the new software.

Samsung is pushing out Android 4.3 as soon as possible in order to make more of its devices compatible with its Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
