Android 4.4 KitKat HTC One Update Coming in Just 15 Days
The recently announced Android 4.4 KitKat software will hit the HTC One in just 15 days.
The company's Jason Mackenzie did an interview with Engadget where he revealed HTC's plans for the roll out of the new OS. Their goal is to push it to the HTC One Google Play Edition in the next 15 days. After that, they hope to have it on the unlocked and developer editions in 30 days. The U.S. carrier versions could get it in as early as 90 days.
This is pretty good progress considering the fact that carrier models do not receive software updates until almost one year after it has been introduced to the public. HTC is attempting to beat Samsung to the punch here.

HTC is also still working on plans to roll out the software for the HTC One Max and One Mini. Mackenzie says that they will issue a statement concerning Android 4.4 for these devices in the future.
If HTC could accomplish rolling out the software to all HTC phones in the U.S. in 90 days, it shouldn't have a problem doing the same thing globally.
The HTC One Android 4.3 update for Verizon is currently being delayed for at least one month. Mackenzie took to his Twitter account to announce the news earlier this week.
"One Vz customers: we need more time to spin new SW & re-test 4.3 update. Approx a month. Appreciate your patience as we work to deliver," he wrote.
The problem most likely lies in the carrier's overall update process as most other companies have already made Android 4.3 readily available for the HTC One.
Those who aren't willing to wait for the update could purchase the HTC One Max, which runs Android 4.3 and HTC Sense 5 right out of the box.
