Ariana Grande Explains Relationship With Justin Bieber

Ariana Grande, the singer who has opened up for Justin Bieber on his recent "Believe" tour, recently revealed the context of her relationship with the 19-year-old Canadian crooner.

Grande, 20, posted an image of Bieber planting a kiss on her cheek earlier this summer and received backlash from his fans and those who are fond of his on-and-off again relationship with entertainer girlfriend, Selena Gomez. However, Grande let it be known that she and Bieber have had nothing more but short exchanges.

"It's funny, everybody thinks we spent so much time together because we were touring, but really, I think I saw him once, and it was for about five minutes," Grande revealed in a recent interview with J-14. "He played me 'Heartbreaker,' it was amazing, and then I left. It's like 'hey, great job, bye.'"

Grande explained why her embarking on a music tour with Bieber did not guarantee that they would spend time with one another.

"You don't really see each other, 'cause it's like I'm on stage, then I'm off stage, and then I leave and I go to sleep. And then he's on stage then he leaves," she revealed to J-14. "So it's like you don't see each other. I did get to hear some of his new music, and it's amazing."

Last month, Grande revealed why she took to social media to post an image of Bieber planting a kiss on her cheek.

"I think [fans] had trended #JustinAndArianaSelfie or something like that, so I was like, 'we have to do this.' Justin was like 'Yo, let's take a picture,'" Grande revealed to MTV. "And so I took out my phone and I went like this and I was just smiling and he kissed me on the cheek."

However, Bieber's opening act was too shy to stick around after the headliner kissed her on his tour.

"And I didn't know what to do. I just walked out of the room. I got shy," she told MTV. "And then [Justin's manager] Scooter came after to me and said, 'Justin says you have to post that picture.'"

However, Grande did not instantly oblige.

"And I said, 'I will not.' And he was like 'he says you have to post that picture,'" she recalled. "And I was like I can't do that because I don't want the drama that's going to come with that."

After she initially posted the image, Grande defended herself against critics who did not approve of her seeming to get cozy with Bieber.

"Everyone, girls are allowed to be friends with guys," Grande tweeted. "I'm a lady. Chill out."
