Barbara Walters Mocks Kim Kardashian, Kanye West

Barbara Walters may have added Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to her "10 Most Fascinating People of 2013" list, but the renowned journalist may be mocking the famed prayer in the process.

Walters, 84, did not shy away from speaking out against the 36-year-old rap mogul's ego while questioning his 33-year-old reality television star fiancee's talent.

"Kanye, as he has often pointed out has many talents, as for Kim, well she's very good at being herself," Walters said in her ABC broadcast of her 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013 list.

She went on to question why Kardashian fell in love with her fiance, who many have accused of acting in poor taste publicly.

"Kanye West first fell in love with Kim Kardashian when she was Brandy Norwood's personal assistant but when she did fall for him," Walters questioned before seeming to mock the pair. "Was it the time he insulted Taylor Swift? Or the moment he insulted George W Bush? Or the time he threw a punch at a paparazzo. Who knows? Love is a mystery."

This is not the first time that Walters has spoken out against Kardashian. In 2011, the Kardashian family was interviewed by Walters after she placed them on her annual list of fascinating people.

Walters questioned the stars' rise to fame, which was propelled by a 2007 explicit tape that was released of Kim and her ex-boyfriend. With product lines, television shows and spin-offs taking form after the tape's release, Walters asked Kim about her decision to create an intimate recording.

"So, was it a good thing to have done?" Walters asked Kim.

Seemingly flustered with watery eyes, Kim answered with the help of her mother and manager.

"Whatever you do, you might think," Kim began. "I've made mistakes in my life for sure."

Walters on the other hand attempted to learn what was behind the appeal of the women who she said were "a strange mix of trashy sex, upscale excess, tabloid melodrama and suburban family life."

The journalist asked the reality television stars about their appeal, since they do not have any conventional talents.

"You don't really act; you don't sing; you don't dance," Walters told them. "You don't have any - forgive me - any talent!"

Although the women did not look happy with Walters' observations, they agreed with her.

Kim, however, defended her family's line of work.

"I think it's more of a challenge for you to go on a reality show, and get people to fall in love with you for being you," Kim said.
