Betsy Andreu 'Furious' at Lance Armstrong's Confession

Betsy Andreu is one of many Lance Armstrong supporters upset with his recent admission of drug use. She is the wife of one of his teammates and has spoken out about Armstrong's drug abuse as well as the way he manipulated his colleagues in order to get what he wanted.

"Lance is a master manipulator of the media," Andreu told the Huffington Post, "and that's why all these years, he's gotten away with it. Look at how many people are now saying, 'Oh my gosh. I had no idea he was the cheat. I had no idea he was such a bully. I had no idea he was so mean.'"

Andreu has always maintained that Armstrong used drugs to help lead him to numerous victories in cycling. She testified at least twice that Armstrong was using steroids, but he always managed to escape charges.

"I'm not going to take that on. I'm laying down on that one. I'm going to put that one down. She asked me, and I asked her not to talk about it," Armstrong told Oprah during the interview on Thursday. He admitted to apologizing to Andreu for calling her a [expletive].

Andreu told Sports Illustrated that she never meant to "take Lance on. I decided not to lie for him; there's a difference. Frankie (her husband) was one of the best friends Lance could've had. I, in turn, became his friend. And he tried to destroy us and threw us away."

"I have a range of emotions. You think of the friend that you had, and how he screwed you; you think of how maybe he's sorry he screwed you so badly, but maybe he's not sorry enough. If Lance is going to be completely contrite and honest, then he's on the road to forgiveness, the road to healing. I'm open to that possibility," she told Sports Illustrated.

The second part of Armstrong's interview with Oprah airs Friday, Jan. 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET on OWN.
